Issue October 2006

Letter from the Chairman>>

This issue we report on the first of a number of important research studies initiated and supported by Action for Tinnitus Research. These studies are beginning to deliver valuable insight into tinnitus, its causes, and potential treatments. We are also about to embark on a number of highly influential studies and trials in the UK.

New research projects - we need your help...
I appeal to you to help us in whatever way you can to support the cause and enable us to continue to fund cutting-edge research projects. Every contribution makes a difference.

We owe you a huge thank you!
Last month we initiated a campaign to put tinnitus on the health agenda. Dozens of people responded. Over 40 people wrote to let us know they had completed the NICE form. Thank You!

The NICE campaign continues!
We do not want to stop here. We want to make sure the medical community, doctors and healthcare professionals hear our cry for help - and do something about it. Please encourage your friends, families and colleagues to get involved. The more who "shout", the more likely we will be heard. Drop us a line to let us know if you completed the form info@tinnitus-research.org.
Many thanks

Philip Champ
Chairman

ATR Research News>>
First UK Patient Study Underway at Leicester

ATR is excited to report on a number of research studies underway at the University of Leicester and Leicester Royal Infirmary. The first study we are able to report on is an ongoing exploratory trial, involving sixty tinnitus patients that will continue well into 2007.

This, the first study of its kind in the UK, will help medics identify which tinnitus patients may benefit from particular types of therapy. Find out more about the UK patient trial.

Next month we will be reporting on a news and exciting research project... watch this space!

More than even before we need funding to sustain and continue these research projects. Please help in whatever way you can... every gift makes a difference!
